I'm Roby — a senior mobile engineer. For 8+ years I've taken React Native and Expo apps from messy rewrite to calm, reliable production for teams across Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, and I founded the Lombok JavaScript community along the way. About

Builder and community person, in one.

Most engineers pick a side — heads-down builder, or the one who talks. I've spent eight years being both, and it turns out they feed each other.

The invisible work is mine: the build that fails on one Android device, the monorepo call that saves or sinks a team, native modules below the JS layer, CI gates that stop bad code before it ships. On my team I'm the person people find when the release won't cut, the architecture needs a call, or a PR needs a real review.

The other half is people. I founded the Lombok JavaScript community, spoken at meetups on React Native, GraphQL, and Flutter, and run Scrum and team-performance sessions internally. A team's output isn't just tasks closed — it's how well the work is understood and managed.

I'm curious by default and allergic to "that's just how it is." If something isn't ideal, I say so — and bring the tool or the fix.

  1. 2021–now

    Senior React Native Engineer @ Flash Coffee

    Jakarta / APAC, remote

    Senior mobile engineer on Flash Coffee's consumer app, serving customers across the APAC region. Led the migration of the legacy React Native app to Expo and owned the mobile side of the Post-Order squad — order tracking, receipts, and the post-purchase experience. Built a white-label app on Expo Universal so one codebase could ship under multiple brands, integrated Adyen payments and six-language localization via Lokalise, and set up the release pipeline (GitHub Actions, CI gates) the team ships on. Raised the engineering bar across the codebase with strict ESLint, Knip for dead-code control, and thorough code review — the person the team turns to when a release won't cut or an architecture call is needed.

  2. 2023

    React Native Engineer @ Slash Digital

    Singapore, remote

    React Native engineer on a consultancy team delivering a client's mobile app from Singapore. Worked in a shared monorepo against a GraphQL API layer, built features to the client's sprint cadence, and presented working demos every cycle. Backed each release with end-to-end unit tests to keep quality high under a tight external deadline.

  3. 2020–21

    React Native Engineer @ Geko Life

    Thailand, remote

    React Native engineer on a mobile app for electric-motorbike owners. Built real-time map tracking for live and historical trip routes, battery-telemetry dashboards, and social sign-in (OAuth) — engineering-heavy work spanning realtime data, maps, and smooth, animation-rich UI. Kept the map and telemetry responsive while data streamed in continuously.

  4. 2020–21

    Lead Frontend Engineer @ Heylaw

    Jakarta, remote

    Lead frontend engineer at a legal-tech company, leading the mobile team across a family of products — consumer and partner apps, web, and Edunav, which I took from zero to launch on my own and on schedule. Owned mobile architecture and delivery, set the frontend standards, and mentored the team while shipping across React Native, Next.js, and Flutter.
